All about Escuela 'La
Crujía'
Escuela
means school, and that is exactly what this
beautiful building was built for – to educate the local children
of the
hamlet of La Crujía.
Built
in the 1940’s, amongst the lemon, mandarine and avocado
groves of this
lush, tropical valley, the school was active until
just
six years ago,
doubling as a local place of worship on
Sundays. Today the building, with its beamed school hall and
its
picturesque bell tower, has been fully restored and extended
to provide
comfortable accommodation for holiday makers
looking to escape from the
tourists and explore the area freely,
on foot, by bike or by car, or
playing golf at one of the
nearby
golf courses.
THE
GARDEN,
set in a mandarine grove, is perfect for relaxing in the sun or taking a cooling
dip in the
pool,
accompanied
only by the cheerful cheeping of the many birds.
Guests
are free to make use of the BBQ,
play
table
tennis,
beat
the
boxing
bag..
and there is a great trampoline for the kids to work off all that extra
energy!
But
you
may
simply
wish to
sit,
relax,
sunbathe, read a book from our library, or,
especially nice, contemplate the beauty of the sky as the sun sets and
night
time descends on the valley.
At
night the Escuela and its gardens become a magical world, with the
twinkling lights of
the ancient Moorish town of Vélez-Málaga visible
beyond
and if you take a midnight dip...
OUR
ROOMS:
Escuela ‘La Crujía’ offers three comfortable and spacious rooms decorated in traditional rustic Andalusian style: two double rooms with fully equipped kitchens, and one twin room with a microwave and mini fridge.
All
3
rooms
have
their
own
individual
entrances,
terrace
areas,
ensuite
bathrooms
and wood burners for
those winter nights (electric radiators also provided in Winter).
Extra
single beds and cots are available for families, and a discount is offered
for a second room with the same family or group, subject to availability.
Ample parking space.

are meticulous about the friendly, personalised level of service that we
offer all our guests.
This
includes:
- Advice on walks, cycle routes, bike hire
RATES:
1st April to 30th September:
60 Euros per night per room
(or 300 Euros per week)
1st October to 31st March: 48 Euros
per night per room
(or
240
Euros
per week)
Breakfast is included for the
twin room. Add 5 Euros per couple for the self catering rooms.
Evening meals: 15 Euros per person
(please ask in the morning)

Instructions
to reach the Escuela:
From
Malaga
airport, take the N340 towards Motril/Almería
(Autovia
del
Mediterraneo,
East).
Leave the motorway at the Vélez-Málaga exit and take the main
road due North, passing parallel
to Vélez to your right.
DO
NOT
TAKE
SIGNS
INTO
VELEZ,
STAY
ON
THE MAIN ROAD NORTH,
which is signposted Viñuela/Alhama.
After
around two Kms, still on the main road, take the
road
towards Benamargosa, to the left, by the Restaurante El Cruce.
About half a Km along, by the
speed limit sign marked 60, turn
right,
up a track.
Around
200 metres along, look for the sign to the
Escuela - we are just on the left.
Turn
into
the
car
park,
under
the
arched
gateway
and
park.
